Newbery Medal Books

During the next few weeks, we will we working with Newbery Medal Winning Books.

The Newbery Medal was named for eighteenth-century British bookseller John Newbery. It is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children. http://www.ala.org/alsc/awardsgrants/bookmedia/newberymedal/newberymedal

We are reading The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate out loud in class. Students will choose h 1st) a Newbery Medal Winner or Honor Book to read independently .  You can find a list of past winners here.

Explorers Research Project

This week, students are working on a joint project in Social Studies and English. Students are learning how to conduct reseach, cite sources, and present information in an effective presentation using Power Point. Students have received a guide and outline to follow, which can be found on Brain Honey. Students should work at home and at school on this project. Presentations will take place during the week of December 3-7th in Social Studies class.
